A Legacy of Leadership, A Future of Progress: Saundra Robinson Green Joins Team O’Dea as Jersey City Council-at-Large Candidate

Team O’Dea invites you to join them in announcing Saundra Robinson Green as the third and final Council-at-Large candidate, bolstering Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s bid for mayor. Saundra’s lifelong commitment to service, advocacy, and education makes her a strong choice to represent our city’s diverse communities and ensure that every resident has a voice in local government.

Saundra’s passion for public service is deeply rooted in her family’s legacy of advocacy. Her mother, Earnestine "Betty" Robinson, played a historic role as the lead plaintiff in the landmark 1973 New Jersey Supreme Court case, Robinson v. Cahill, which put Jersey City’s fight for a better education system front and center. It compelled the state to uphold its constitutional obligation to provide all public school students with a "thorough and efficient" education. That is the legacy that has shaped Saundra’s life and career.

Her extensive career in public service, in positions such as a manager at the Jersey City Housing Authority and President of Special Education at the Parent Advisory Council, reflects a lifelong dedication to Jersey City which earned her a recognition as an "Everyday Hero" by the Jersey Journal in 2005. Her job as a technology teacher at Lincoln High School pulled her, once more, towards the legacy that started it all…education.

In 2017, Saundra founded The Connected V.I.N.E. (Victors in Need of Each other), an organization dedicated to mentoring and supporting community members who receive services. Through this initiative, she has guided countless at-risk youth, provided essential resources to parents, and empowered adolescents to become leaders in their own communities. She also provides services in school and afterschool at various Jersey City locations where youth can grab something to eat, receive support and are encouraged to S.O.A.R. (Serve, Overcome, Advocate and Rise).

Saundra believes in community-centered love and nurturing as the foundation for breaking cycles of hardship and planting seeds of hope and opportunity for future generations. As she steps into this new role, she remains committed to ensuring that all Jersey City residents—regardless of their background—have access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive. She will continue to champion policies that uplift families, protect vital community services, and invest in the future of our city.

Join us in supporting Saundra Robinson Green for Council-at-Large. Together, with Team O’Dea, we will build a Jersey City that works for everyone.
